February Newsletter
I'm going to wrap myself in paper.
I'm going to dab myself in glue.
Sick some stamps upon my head,
I'm going to mail myself to you!
The first week in this month we talk about Groundhog's Day and heard about "Grumpy the Groundhog" and "See
My Shadow." We made shadows in the room. Much of February was concerned with Valentine's Day. We played "Postman
Brings a Valentine." We learned the fingerplay called "Counting Valentines" and "Mail Myself to You."
We had a super time at our Valentine's party. The children really enjoyed opening their own Valentine's; everyone seems to
enjoy getting mail!
We also talked about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. We looked at the flag and its colors and sang "Flag
of America." We also sang "Yankee Doodle." We painted marshmellow stars with patriotic colors of red and
blue onto pink paper. We heard about young George Washington and the cherry tree story. Later, we made a cherry branch with
red fingerprint cherries. (And we all had red fingers for a few days.)
In Science we experimented with absorption, things that sink and float, and we used magnifying glasses and color lenses.
For our math activities we worked with the numbers 1-5. Other songs we sang included "Put Your Finger in the Air,"
"This Old Man," "Wheels on the Bus," "I'm a Little Teapot," "I Know an Old Lady,"
and "She'll be Coming Around the Mountain." We enjoyed singing with Miss Jackie's record and did "Peanut Butter,"
"Hello," and others. We even made real peanut butter!
Next month is a busy month. We will be doing our circus activities; then we will talk about St. Patrick's Day. We will
be also talking about Easter and Spring. We look forward to snack time each day. Thanks for those yummy and nutritious snacks.

*Please note that all 3's will be coming to school on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 3rd and 4th. There will be no 3's
on Thursday, March 5 and Friday, March 6. The older children will be having Circus Rehearsal and Circus. The Wold's Greatest
Cardboard Circus will be Friday, March 6 at 10:00a.m. All three's are invited to attend if accompanied by an adult. It will
last approximately one hour.
Our Parent/Teacher conferences will be Monday, March 23. We are looking forward to talking with you again!
Our Easter Celebration will be on Thursday, March 26 or Friday, March 27 for all classes. Spring Break will be from March
28-April 7. We will have our 2015-2016 Registration from 2:00 - 4:00, and 6:30 - 7:30 on Wednesday, April 8. Thank you!
